The kennel name, "Herrenhausen", was developed when Denny Smith and Barbara brought K.S. Yoli Rothenuffeln from Germany to add to their German Shorthaired breeding program.  As is the tradition of kennel names in Germany, then kennel is named after the location where it is established.  Yoli was brought to the US from a small town outside of Hannover, very near the famed Herrenhausen (Master's House) summer estate of the Hanoverian royal family.  The kennel name of Herrenhausen was taken to honor this great dog.

Our devotion to the continuation and improvement of these great dual purpose gun dogs can best be shown in the many generations of dogs we have bred and produced.  They are known for their calm dispositions, outstanding hunting ability, bidability for training, and sound conformation.
